Меня "порадовало" к примеру вот это правило:
3. Fixed Expressions and Institutional Use
There are many fixed expressions and common phrases in English where articles are never used. Additionally, when referring to institutions being used for their primary purpose, articles are usually omitted.
Rule:
Omit the article if the person is at the institution for its intended purpose.
Examples:
She goes to school every day.
He is in hospital for treatment.
I go to bed at 10 PM.
They go to church on Sundays.
We play cricket after class.
Incorrect Usage:
She goes to the school every day. (Only correct if referring to the building.)
He is in the hospital for treatment.
I go to the bed at 10 PM.
Ну и исключения некоторые тоже )) Например - перед названием географических мест не используется...Но!
Exception:
Some proper nouns require an article, such as:
The United States
The Netherlands
The Ganga
The Himalayas
В статье еще много чего интересного )))
